My Winter Essentials

Where I live in Canada, it gets cold... really cold!

In this post, I just want to share with you my winter essentials to survive the real winter.

1) LIP BALM

Currently I am using this lip butter from Herbivore Botanicals in Rose. I absolutely love this lip balm because it it moisturizing but it doesn't look shiny.

2) HAND LOTION

I know that this is technically not a hand lotion, but the container isn't too big for me to carry around so currently this is what I am using as an all around moisturizer, including my hands!

Before I started caring about the ingredients in the products I used, I LOVED this hand cream. This was by far one of the best hand creams I've used! I still have almost 3/4 of the tube left but unfortunately I chose to stop using it due to the toxic chemicals used in this product. If you are not into green beauty then definitely give this thing a try!

3) GLOVES

I have a pair of North Face gloves (watch the video if you want to see mine) similar to these ones. I got mine around a year or two ago so they do not sell them anymore, however, these one above are actually better.  Not only do these gloves have grips on them like mine, they are also touch screen compatible!  I personally wear my gloves when I snowboard underneath of a thicker glove just so when I strap myself in I don't have to do it bare skin.  Aside from snowboarding, I also wear them when I drive since they have grips on them.

This pair below I still do not understand how they work. They are leather gloves that are phone compatible. Usually with leather gloves, they have a different tech compatible fabric that are sewn on to the index and thumb. These gloves however, do not have any of that! They look like regular ole leather gloves that work on touch screens... ALL FIVE FINGERS!

4) SCARVES

The first scarf I am going to show you is more for aesthetics, however it is very warm.  My faux fur scarf (watch the video to see mine) is actually pretty warm but it is super fashionable and can amp up any outfit.

This is my most worn scarf this past year. It is such a soft, cozy, versatile scarf. It is warm but not too thick, it is actually the perfect scarf if you have a very warm winter coat. This scarf can be worn all year round AND be worn in 7 different ways including a cardigan!

You can never go wrong with a blanket scarf for the winter. Blanket scarfs are perfect for adding another warm layer to your outfit but they are also great as a BLANKET of course! :)

5) SOCKS

Thick socks are an essential for me during the winter. Your body may be warm but if your feet are ice cold it's uncomfortable. This pair below from Roots are super cozy but you can definitely find cheaper alternatives! :)

6) BOOTS

During my 4 years of undergrad at Western University, I did not own a pair of good boots. Now that I have a pair, I honestly have no idea how I survived without any! Invest in a pair of good winter boots if it snows where you live. My Sorel boots are the perfect pair for me, they aren't too clunky, they are still fashionable and are super warm. I absolutely love them and highly recommend them!

7) WINTER COAT

Just like my boots, I did not have a good winter jacket when I lived in London, ON.  Stop purchasing $50 jackets that are only slightly warm, INVEST in a real winter coat if you experience a Canadian winter like I do.  After much research, I decided not to go for the typical Canada Goose that everyone seems to have these days, I purchased myself a Nobis jacket. I love everything about my coat and love how it does not look too bulky on my body. To hear more about why I love this coat and see how it looks on me, watch the video of below :)
